The Bronx, NY – Today, the Michael Blake for DNC Campaign announced the endorsement of Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Derek Eadon. This critical endorsement continues the support of national and state leadership including Vice Chair R.T. Rybak, state party Chairs in Michigan, Ohio, New York and New Mexico and Vermont Vice Chair Tim Jerman. Chairman Derek Eadon offered the following statement:
“I have known Michael Blake since the 2008 Iowa caucuses where he lead the team that organized constituency coalitions across the state for President Obama. Mike is a natural leader, and one of the most talented organizers I have ever met. Mike engaged Iowans in both rural and urban areas in Iowa, and empowered a new generation of activists. He was a leader in the state and in the organization. As a State Party Chair, I recognize the importance of having people who know how to win in any type of community, especially in rural areas that feel that the Democratic party isn't engaging them. Mike is uniquely equipped to help address the issues Democrats face right now — he is the right choice for the male DNC Vice Chair position.”
Following this exceptional show of support from Chairman Derek Eadon, Assembly Member Blake offered the following statement:
“Iowa will forever hold a special place in my heart as it is there in 2008 I had the honor of being the Constituency Outreach director for then-Senator Obama, where we brought together Americans of all walks of life to participate in the Caucus and showed that local organizing with local parties can thrive when we are united. I thank Chairman Eadon for his enthusiastic endorsement of our candidacy as we continue to show momentum for #LeadershipforTomorrow.”
Eadon was elected chair of the party in January. He worked for all three of President Obama’s successful Iowa campaigns, including serving as Iowa General Election Director in 2012. Derek also served as State Director for Organizing for America in Iowa and as the 2010 Iowa Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign Director.
Derek has worked on some of the most important causes in the progressive community through his company, Bluprint Strategies. The company focuses on issue campaign management and digital outreach. Some of the issues he has worked on include: climate change, clean energy, gun control, child poverty, early childhood education, paid leave, pay equity, organized labor, campaign finance reform, fair courts, anti-fraud, and anti-smoking efforts.
