Nationally recognized campaign sees influx of support of from party leaders
BRONX, NY – Today, the Michael Blake for DNC Campaign announced that New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer endorsed Assembly Member Michael Blake in his campaign for DNC Vice-Chair. Stringer’s endorsement follows those of New York party leaders and elected officials across the country including U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, N.Y Assembly Speaker & DNC Member Carl Heastie, NY State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. amongst many others.
In giving his endorsement, Stringer stated "Assembly Member Michael Blake is just the kind of young progressive leader the Democratic Party needs. I admire his commitment to advancing Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises, identifying affordable housing solutions, and consistently advocating for economic justice. His national campaign experience and passion for recruiting and training young candidates to run for office are crucial tools for driving our party forward.”
Born and raised in Washington Heights, Comptroller Stringer was elected to the New York State Assembly in 1992, where he represented Manhattan’s West Side for 13 years. In 2006, he became Manhattan Borough President, and was elected Comptroller in 2013. Mr. Stringer has championed progressive policies like a $15 minimum wage and marriage equality, and has never stopped advocating for truly affordable housing options and open, transparent government.
Responding to the endorsement, Blake said, “It is truly an honor to be endorsed by Comptroller Stringer, a man who shares my vision for economic justice. He is a prime example of someone who leads with principle. As we continue our campaign of #LeadershipforTomorrow, we are grateful for the support of Comptroller Stringer.”
