Saturday, New York State Assembly Member and Candidate for DNC Vice Chair Michael Blake joined hundreds of thousands of demonstrators marching on Washington to take a stand for women’s rights. Coming just one day after the inauguration of a President who is openly hostile to the rights of women, minorities, immigrants, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQIA community, and so many others, Michael Blake proudly stood with millions across the nation who believe that America’s diversity is its greatest strength.
After taking part in the historic march, Michael Blake released the following statement:
“Saturday, I proudly joined hundreds of thousands of people in Washington, and in sister marches in cities across the country, who stood up for a more inclusive America and a brighter future. I was completely inspired by the sheer number of people and collective energy of this demonstration. This moment in history reminds me of how important it is to have a strong party that can turn this energy into a political movement that is fighting for our values at the ballot-box. We must continue to mobilize when everyone returns to their homes because this cannot be a moment in time but a movement over a lifetime. Thank you to the many remarkable organizers including but not limited to Tamika Mallory, Carmen Perez, Linda Sarsour, Paola Mendoza, Alida Garcia, Janaye Ingram Lindsay Wagner, Michelle Minguez, and Jenna Arnold who chose love and progress instead of division and standing idle.”
