During his final interview as President of the United States, President Obama highlighted New York State Assembly Member and Candidate for DNC Vice Chair Michael Blake as a rising star within the next generation of party leaders. Speaking to his former staffers Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Dan Pfeiffer and Tommy Vietor on their podcast “Pod Save America,” the President was asked to name individuals he thought to be rising stars in the Democratic Party. While highlighting the work of the next wave of Democratic Party leaders, the President mentioned Michael Blake and his campaign for DNC Vice Chair among a small group of only seven elected officials and two state legislators.

Check out the podcast HERE. The President mentions Michael Blake at 32:13.

Responding to the President’s remarks during the interview, Michael Blake released the following statement:

“I am humbled to be recognized by President Obama as a rising star in the Democratic Party as I run for Vice Chair of the DNC. Serving in the White House, working on both presidential campaigns, and welcoming the President to The Bronx for the launch of the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance were among the greatest honors of my life. The President has led our country with great distinction over these past 8 years, and, I will always cherish his kind words.”
