Today, the Michael Blake for DNC Campaign announced that DNC State Member Allison Stephens (NV) and Member At-Large Kerman Maddox (CA) will serve as the first set of #LeadershipForTomorrow campaign Western Region Co-Chairs in Assembly Member Michael Blake’s bid for DNC Vice Chair.
“Assembly Member Michael Blake strikes the right balance between concrete beltway and legislative experience and an understanding of the issues that impact all of us in the Western United States - from immigration to water scarcity. I support Michael Blake.” said Stephens.
“I am proud to endorse Michael for DNC Vice Chair, and, I urge you to join me in supporting him.” Maddox added. I've worked with the Assembly Member to win multiple campaigns where he regularly visited Western states to provide support, listened to advice, made adjustments according to what was said on the ground and ensured that we had the resources to win. He is exactly what we need to move our party forward.”
In response, Blake said, “It goes without saying that I am thrilled to welcome Allison and Kerman to the campaign’s leadership team. They have the commitment, experience, and insight to win, and, I look forward to working with them towards victory.”
Stephens was elected to the Democratic National Committee at the 2016 Nevada State Democratic Convention in May of 2016 by delegates from across the state. As National Committeewoman, she will serve a four-year term representing Nevada at DNC meetings and as a superdelegate in the 2020 presidential election.
Maddox serves on the National Finance Committee for President Barack Obama and is an At-Large Obama (Super) Delegate to the Democratic National Committee. He is the Managing Partner at Dakota Communications in Los Angeles, CA.
The campaign recently announced the endorsements of DNC Member At-Large and Former Mayor Michael A. Nutter, NY Assembly Member Herman “Denny” Farrell Jr., Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper and Vice Chair Rhine McLin, Michigan Party Chair Brandon Dillon, RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum, and current Vice Chair R.T. Rybak among others.
Blake, who announced a candidacy for DNC Vice Chair in December, with a focus on creating programs that building strong state parties and a base of new elected leaders.
Blake served in the Obama Administration as White House Associate Director for outreach to state and local elected officials, the African American community & Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises. In 2012, he served as the National Deputy Director of Operation Vote, the constituency vote effort for the campaign that helped win nine out of ten battleground states.
Blake is a graduate of New York City public schools and Northwestern University, where he earned his degree in broadcast journalism before embarking on a career in public service. As a campaign organizer, he's helped win several local elections and flip the Michigan house to Democratic control. He is currently a member of the New York State Assembly where he has focused on economic justice, civil rights, and criminal justice reform.
